Update
I haven't uploaded any pictures in the last few days. I have realized that I just can't fit myself into the format of picturing and uploading photos every single day. I am not planning to stop working on this blog, but I will do it in a way it fits my lifestyle more - uploading pictures few times a week, whenever I have some good material. I just don't like the pressure the DAILY blog requires...:) Later on I will share some photos from my trip to Sibenik - it's not Split, but just 80 km away from here and also very beautiful.

Hajduk 100 years
Today Split's football club Hajduk is celebrating its 100 years birthday. Already for some time the whole city is full of decorations and happy fans (well, almost every citizen of the city is fan in one or other way). Hajduk means a lot for everyone in Split and entire Dalmatia. There were fireworks and other celebrations last night, today the club will play a friendly match in front of sold-out stadium and there will be a concert on city's promenade later on.
Fans have decorated even one of the city's monuments - Grgur Ninski by Ivan Mestrovic. Here you see a picture of him :)

Stobrec marine
Beautiful sunny day today in Split and surroundings. I've went for a coffee to Stobrec, the village I've mentioned few times before, and took this picture of it's marine and some of the houses.
I am hoping to start investing more of my time and energy to taking pictures from now on so I hope that soon I'll be able to upload more quality pictures than the recent ones :)

Windy day
It was very windy today in Split so I wasn't in the mood of too much picture taking. Anyway, this is a street in one great neighborhood near the city core. I like it and we always park the care here when we go to the center so I decided to photograph it.
Weekend lies ahead of us - I wish a good one for you and I will try to picture something nice around here ;)

Freezing
It is freezing today in Split. I have been working all day at home and went out to buy some stuff just in the evening. So, I am uploading one of the pictures I've taken a few days ago. It is one of the main squares of Split. locally called Piazza (you might recognize the Italian word). Great place for a coffee.

Winter in Dalmatia
I haven't been to the center of Split today and did not want to picture my boring looking neighborhood so decided to picture the village of Stobrec, right next to Split. It is a great place to come for a cup of coffee and I of course got my daily dose here today :) It's a real winter in Dalmatia, I do not like that and the picture illustrates the grey mood all around here. Anxiously waiting for some sun!

Marmontova street in the evening
Today the weather in Split and entire Dalmatia (Southern region of Croatia) is already slowly coming back to normal winter. It is colder and cloudy. I do not like that, but this evening was still mild enough for a walk in the city. This is a picture of one of the main pedestrian streets in Split - Marmontova, called in honor of French general Marmont from the Napoleon epoch. It is mostly shops and bakeries as well as a podium for locals or tourists to show off themselves and look at the others :)

Foggy, cloudy in Split
Today Split was under big, thick clouds and fog. I took this photo in a village next to Split called Stobrec. This is the view towards the city and in the corner you can see the terrace of one of my favorite places for a cup of coffee. I couldn't see almost anything while taking this picture because of the fog and just after uploading it to the computer I've noticed this unflattering metal "thing" of the parking lot in the right corner. Ah well :)

Peskarija / Fishmarket
I have to say I am very happy about this picture, but I am uploading it anyway :) I have promised myself to do more and better pictures of this amazing place, called Peskarija or in English - fish market. You can find many kinds of sea food here and hear a lot of loud women trying to sell it. If you are ever in Split - you've got to see it.
And I will upload more and better pictures of this market some time later.
It is still sunny and very warm in Split, but unfortunately it seems that this awesome weather will end in the second half of the week - rain is just around the corner ... :(

Ice - skating in the South
In the beginning of winter an ice-skating "arena" was built in one of the main Splits squares Prokurative. I haven't tried it and I doubt I will, but it looks really cool, having in mind that lately the daily temperatures have been around 13-15 degrees and ice and winter fun feels really far from this. Anyway, if you are in Split and willing to try ice-skating with a sea and palm-tree view - grab your chance!

Sunny January
Last couple of days in Split were amazing. It's hard to believe it is January: loads of sun, warm temperatures (during the day 13-15 degrees)... This kind of weather drags outside everybody. And for what? Of course - a cup of coffee in the sun :)
In todays picture you can see the main Splits promenade, locally called Riva. You can also see a little part of the cathedrals bell tower. Yes, Split is nice.

Split daily photo
Hi everybody. I am Milda, a Lithuanian living in Split, Croatia for last year and a half. One of my interests is photography so I've decided to finally start a blog called "Split daily photo". I love the concept of "daily photo", I have subscribed myself to some of these blogs and now I will try to keep up one of my own :)
I will start with the photos, letting people who are not familiar with the city to get the main image of it and later will search for interesting details and maybe even stories of Split.
I want to note that I am not a professional photographer, I don't have a professional camera and many of my pictures will look touristy and amateur, but I will try to do my best and show Split as it is :) Anyway, please do not copy them without my permission.
The first photo of the blog shows the entire city of Split, it's been taken in one of the most touristic, but as well greatest places of the city - Vidilica. It is a sightseeing terrace as well as a coffee bar on the edge of the Marjan hill peninsula, at the north/west edge of the town center. As you can see, the view is amazing: the harbor, Diocletian's palace, promenade (locally called Riva), the old and new town...
